Caught in a Trap

Before Christ came, we were like wild animals caught in a trap, he saw us with great compassion and went immediately to free us form our death. He greeted us with love and compassion, we responded with reproach and bloodshed. He bore our assault without hesitation and took upon Himself our burdens. We could not see or understand the love He brought to us, we were frightened and hurt. We bit the very hand of our salvation in fear.

Finally after He labored through the pain and released us of our trappings, we run off into the wilderness, back where the traps are hidden, never learning never growing and inevitably trapping ourselves again. Yet there are some that stay with their Master and learn from Him, so that they too might free their brothers and sisters from their traps. They choose to follow in His footsteps, taking on the teeth and claws of this world. They wallow in the dirt and blood so that others may share their freedom.

Think about those who fought around you to pry you from the jaws of death. Those who gave their blood to see you healed. Think of He who gave His life to free you. You do not see it, but there are multitudes around you, hands reaching out, allow them to free you. Take their hands and learn from them so that you may be free.

We stand on the shoulders of great people, but we will do greater works yet. Amen.
